Documentary Evidence of Democratic Duplicity

You don't need to read the entire pack of lies; I've highlighted the big one in green. The Democratic party is obfuscating, hiding my willingness to serve. They claim to have "open and transparent process," yet refuse to list me on the roster of accepted applications .

(Maybe it's because, in my application, I told the truth???)

Democratic Party of Illinois State Central Committee Begins Process for Selecting Lieutenant Governor Nominee

Springfield, IL –Democratic Party of Illinois Chairman Michael J. Madigan announced Friday that the party’s state central committee is now accepting materials from those who wish to be considered for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor.

"We intend for this to be an open and transparent process,” Chairman Madigan said.  “Anyone that believes he or she has strengths to bring to the ticket is encouraged to submit their name for consideration.”

Those with an interest in appearing before the state central committee may provide information about their background and credentials on the Democratic Party of Illinois website,  HYPERLINK "http://www.ildems.com" www.ildems.com.  State central committee members reserve the right to determine who will be chosen to address them.

The elected state central committee is composed of 38 members, one man and one woman from each congressional district. Each member will have a weighted vote in selecting the nominee that is equal to the number of Democratic ballots cast in their congressional district in the February 2, 2010 primary election. A new state central committee will be established on March 5.

I'm Fighting Mad

This is just the sort of corrupt favoritism I'm trying to stop.

The Illinois Democratic Party has refused to make public my application to be the party's nominee for Lieutenant Governor.

Ever since the party began soliciting applications, scores of Illinoisans have completed the paperwork. The party posts those applications daily on their website.

But they're sitting on mine, refusing to make it public. I filed on Saturday and received confirmation on Sunday. Since then, the site has been updated daily. Each day's applications, from Peoria politicians and Hickville housewives, are posted in full.

The publication of these applications is critical to the forming of public opinion. The media read the applications and report on them. Iggy and Isabel Illinois can go online and form their own opinion. This is why the Democratic Party, the "party of inclusion" puts all the applications online.

All except mine. Guess I'm to much of an outsider. Not tied in with the machine. Too independent. (If you missed it, you can read the relevant portion of my application here.)

You think I'm giving up? Hell, no. In their attempt to stop me, they've recharged my batteries.

I represent you, the people of Illinois and the people who are pretending to be from Illinois.
And I've only just begun to fight for you.

I'm about to make some big waves, folks. And tomorrow, I'll report on the tsunami.

I'm giving the Party machine one chance to straighten this out. I'm about to inform them who they're up against.

Grr,

Headquarters Update

Our new campaign headquarters is up and running:

No, it's not a barbed-wire no-man's land; I haven't got around to taking down the Christmas lights yet. This actually works in our favor, since it looks great at night.

By the way, our official name -- "Frank Mullen III for Illinois Lieutenant Governor"-- is a bit unwieldy. When appropriate, let's abbreviate it as FM3-4-IL-LT-GOV and pronounce it "Eff em three for ill ell-tee gov."

This should simplify things.

A Dangerous New Challenge.

Sheila Simon, daughter of former Illinois Senator Paul Simon (no, not the "Coo-coo ca Choo Mrs. Robinson" guy) has joined the race. This will be a formidable challenger.

She's got actual political experience, having served on the Carbondale City Council and on one of Governor Pat Quinn's advisory committees. Our spin: this tarnishes her by association.

Borrowing from my campaign, she's running as an anti-Chicago down-stater. "I
know a backhoe from a front-end loader," she said in her application papers. I think we can agree that if I'd said it, it would have been funnier.

This is just a reminder that I am not a shoo-in for the Lt. Gov. position. There are a lot of pretenders out there.

Press Release

FRANK MULLEN III SEEKS CANDIDACY AS
ILLINOIS LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR

Democratic State Central Committee
Considers Application

(Aledo, IL) Frank Mullen III has filed papers applying for candidacy as the Democratic nominee for Illinois Lieutenant Governor. An E-mail response received today from the Democratic State Central Committee confirmed Mullen's offer, saying, "Thank you for submitting information for consideration."

"I consider this a ringing endorsement," Mullen said this morning at an informal gathering of his supporter, who declined to give her name. Mullen will officially begin his campaign later today, unless his appointment with the eye doctor runs late. Advance copies of his speech include the following statements:

  • "Illinois today stands at the crossroads between Iowa and Indiana."

  • "We're sick and tired of Chicago's domination of politics. I swear to you I've only been to Chicago six times, and four of them were layovers at O'Hare."

  • "I have no idea what the Lieutenant Governor does, but neither does anyone else, so it's a good fit."

The position of Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor is vacant, following the resignation of Scott Lee Cohen, who finally realized that political office would interfere with his busy life as a family-values Chicago pawnbroker who dates prostitutes and ignores demands for court-ordered child-support payments.

Mullen is totally unqualified to hold office anywhere in Illinois. He has never been elected to anything, is a newcomer to the state, is unfamiliar with regional issues, has no platform and is not quick on the uptake with facts and figures. He sees no reason why this should hurt him in an Illinois campaign.

Frank Mullen III is running for Illinois Lieutenant Governor on the campaign slogan:

"Untrustworthy. Untested. Unindicted. Ready to serve."

Frank Mullen: Maverick. Insider. Regular guy. Elitist. All things to all people.

The Petition

Sign the petition by leaving a comment below. In the grand tradition of Illinois politics, you can sign under a fake name and need not be an actual resident of the state of Illinois.

I will present the petition to the Democratic committee as the campaign swells.

Update: 2 signatures after only 11 hours. We're on a roll!
-----------------------------------------

To the Democratic State Central Committee:

We, the undersigned, support Frank Mullen III for nomination as the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Illinois. He is without convictions, either legal or moral, and has never held elected office, both of which are high qualifications for office in Illinois. We further believe that Frank's inexperience and average intellect would attract Republican and Independent voters, who like Democrats, have become suspicious of smarty-pants insiders.

Untrustworthy. Inexperienced. Unindicted. These attributes fully qualify Frank Mullen for the office of Illinois Lieutenant Governor.

It's official.

I have filed my request for nomination to the office of Lieutenant Governor with the Democratic Party of Illinois. The initial vetting process involved answering a series of questions. Here they are, along with my answers. You, the voter, deserve no less.

1. Why are you a Democrat?
There is currently a three-year waiting list for entry-level positions in organized crime, and most of those jobs don’t have health benefits.

2. Have you previously held elected office? If so, which one(s)?
Having never held elected office, my reputation is untainted by the slightest hint of political scandal.

3. What do you believe are the greatest challenges facing the State of Illinois and areas of greatest opportunity?
Here in Illinois, the Heart of the Midwest, the Land of Lincoln, the Prairie State, along whose western boundary the Mississippi River, “Father of Waters,” flows with a steadiness evocative of the strength and purpose of the early settlers who brought in their ox-drawn wagons an enduring faith in the importance of hard work and just rewards, we, indeed, have great challenges and opportunities.

4. What strengths would you bring to the ticket?
At a time when voters are sick of insiders, elites and career politicians, I offer political inexperience, below-average intellect and a proven history of losing interest in things after a few weeks.

5. Please list any organizations or elected officials that have endorsed your candidacy for lieutenant governor.

I am beholden to no organization or public figure. Therefore, my candidacy will be free from the stigma of “endorsements” and “support”; I will have to win this race on my own lack of qualifications.
